Post Recently diagnosed at 32

Hi All,
I live in NSW and just found out about this site. I have been recently diagnosed with YOPD and see my neurologist in Sydney September 15 to work out what direction we need to take. I think I did my 'final' bloods yesterday in the search for a secondary cause - $350 later :? My neurologist is very thorough trying to rule out any secondary cause so for the last month I have been a performing monkey, completing an abundance of tests. We are worried about my MRI because when I was at hospital they ordered more with dye after examining the one last year and the one I just had done. I hope nothing else is found :(

Anyway it has been difficult to comprehend and I was in complete denial. I thought my body was just mucking up for doctors or I was just tricking them. Very child-like my psychologist kindly pointed out so I have accepted that this is what it is and it does not change the essence of who I am. My youngest child is only 2 so it feels crazy. It all started 3 years ago with a chronic sleep disorder. Does anyone else have REM sleep disorder and deep sleep parasomnia? My neuro says this would have been the first sign something was wrong. Anyway I hope to talk soon. Sasha

I am hoping I can share here and hear other stories.

Hi Sharon,
I don't think I have a sleep disorder, but I have been having the most vivid dreams over the past couple of months (I was diagnosed last month). They have been extraordinary, and I can remember them long after they have happened.
Best of luck with your second MRI result,
Kind regards,
Jennie

Thanks Jennie. My dreams are vivid but I act out 'crazily' at night. I have been medicated for a year and a half for my sleep now and it has made a difference. Thankyou for the best wishes. All we can do is hope for the best : )
