Stem Cells

Hope in a cure for Parkinson’s using stem cells continues to stay strong amongst the Parkinson’s community. Although there are millions of dollars going into stem cell research for a number of health conditions, it is important to remember that it is a highly technical procedure and the availability of stem cell replacement therapy for Parkinson’s is still a number of years away.

Even if a stem cell treatment to cure Parkinson’s were to become available tomorrow, they would still need to undergo substantial testing for safety and efficacy in research trials. Be cautious of any overseas centres that offer stem cell treatments privately. These centres only provide selected antidotal stories and fail to provide important information about clinical research studies they have conducted to provide sufficient evidence to support their claims
